Mita Vohra launched her brand in Harvey Nichols, Knightsbridge, London, in 2016. Her designs and inspirations give birth to a jewelry concept that aims at delving beyond the surface and seeking authenticity in all that we do.
“Jewellery is a boundless form of expression, a means to explore ideas that trigger thought and capture the imagination. A passion for nature evoked by my childhood in Africa, my fascination for history, mythology and astronomy and my curiosity about the expansive mystery of the Cosmos inspire me to seek knowledge and create for Ortaea.”
That’s how Mita Vohra decribes the genesis of her brand Ortaea, established in London in 2016, whose name combines the Latin word Ortus meaning origin, new beginnings and rising and Gaea the Greek Mythological Goddess of Earth and Creation.
Vohra’s precious works bring together emblems of beauty, authenticity and a strong spiritual connection. Through six collections made of precious materials and striking designs – the company uses rigorously ethical sourced gems, and Corporate Social Responsibility is one of the main focuses during every step of the process – Ortaea’s design lead us on a journey to discover the power of nature and creation.
Armor, for example, showcases precious pieces as symbols of protection, strength, wholeness and connection to our beliefs. Koral uses a distinctive look of black gold to represent the depths of the oceans. Mode is a playful collection that’s all about embellishing one’s daily story with wearable day-to-evening jewellery. Nature’s Wonders pays tribute to beautiful coloured gems from all over the world, from Emeralds, Rubies and Sapphires to Aquamarines, Tourmalines and Morganites, gifts of Mother Nature. And Rouge delivers distinctive, statement, diamond pieces that form part of our one-of-a-kind or limited edition pieces. Last but not least, there is also a Bridal range offering timeless classic jewellery for the beautiful bride to wear and commemorate on the big wedding day.
