Swedish Sustainability with Baumgarten Di Marco

Only one-of-a-kind pieces and raw-cut diamonds – eco-certified and sustainable – for the Swedish brand Baumgarten Di Marco

The quality of the raw materials is fundamental to what a company wants to achieve. And even more so when gold and precious stones are certified by a Code of Conduct for the origins and for their ethical production. This is the philosophy that three years ago pushed two young Swedish designersLisa von Baumgarten and Jenny Kask – to create a brand that made sustainability and transparent traceability their trademark. After receiving the Elle Award for Accessory Designer of the Year 2018, they felt the great need to present themselves to the international market. So, to introduce themselves to European and other buyers, they set their sights on last VICENZAORO September. Distributor for Italy Cristina Trevisan tells us about ‘green plus’ and the Baumgarten Di Marco lines: «More than an urgency to give shape to their personal style and design, Lisa and Jenny found inspiration in the desire to revive pieces that in jewelry are considered scraps. Polki and black diamond fragments and chips, raw-cut diamonds and labradorite are paired with sterling silver and two-micron gold-plated brass to create handmade collections with a minimal but refined flair in its shapes and finishes. Every piece is one of a kind, not just in its final outcome but for the ethical concept, which is the foundation of the entire project. Baumgarten Di Marco was one of the first to sign the Swedish Fashion Ethical Charter, and every single piece is marked Craftmark - Hand Made in India.» An extra word about this first experience at VICENZAORO: «The interest in us has been great and it’s not just from Italian buyers but also from Peru and China, and an unexpected and generous opportunity from the Austrian buyers.»
