Homo Faber, the first major cultural exhibition dedicated to the finest European craftsmanship, boasts the famous Maison Vacheron Constantin among its leading players. To mark the occasion, the company will be displaying four extraordinary watches from its private collection. The event, organized by the Michelangelo Foundation in collaboration with Fondazione Giorgio Cini, will take place on the island of San Giorgio Maggiore in Venice. An area of almost 4,000 square meters will welcome visitors for a unique and enthralling experience. A leap into the past, where master craftsmen will explain and reveal the secrets of their ancient professions and open the doors of their workshops with the aid of virtual reality. Among the many working techniques handed down through the generations, Vacheron Costantin will be presenting grisaille enameling, used for the first time in the 16th century. During the exhibition, the master enameller will give a demonstration of his personal savoir faire on dials purposefully made for the occasion, whose main theme will regard Venetian palaces. As Johann Rupert, co-founder of Michelangelo Foundation, explains, «The initiative will provide an overview of the excellence of fine European artistic craftsmanship, with particular reference to what men can do better than machinery.»
