The exhibition “The Art and Science of Gems” by Van Cleef & Arpels opens in Singapore

The beauty and elegance of the "Queen" of Hollywood, Cate Blanchett, on 22 April marked the inauguration of one of the most-awaited events in the world of luxury and culture in 2016: the exhibition Van Cleef & Arpels: The Art and Science of Gems, open until 16 August at the ArtScience Museum in Singapore, offers a unique showcase of the artistic skills required to create elegant jewels as much as the natural processes involved in the formation of minerals and gemstones. VCA-PressroomSingapour-MineralsGems-PopIn-04-Transport-HD-2At the heart of this incredible exhibition, created with the French National Museum of Natural History, are over 400 breathtaking pieces of jewellery, thoroughly selected from the Van Cleef & Arpels Heritage Collection and from the treasures of international private collectors. And just like the beauty of Cate Blanchett - a Friend of Van Cleef & Arpels, who at the inauguration was wearing a necklace, ring and earrings from the Bouton d’Or - these stunning precious items enhance and reflect the poetry, ability and expertise widely recognized as the most authentic hallmarks of the Parisian Maison. This exhibition blends art, craft, history and geoscience in a highly distinctive manner. Visitors are taken on a dramatic journey through the origin of minerals, that continues with their evolution from the deep Earth to its surface. At the same time, they explore the extraordinary craftsmanship that transfigures these rare minerals into works of art.
