Patcharavipa: a New Space in Bangkok

An essential, contemporary esthetic that brings together Thai culture and craftsmanship. This describes Patcharavipa, which has recently inaugurated its first jewelry boutique in Bangkok.

Young jewelry designer Patcharavipa Bodiratnangkura still has strong ties to her paternal grandfather, Nai Lert Phraya Bhakdinoraseth, who still today - sixty years after his death - is one of the most important figures in Thailand. He ran important transportation and real-estate businesses, but, most of all, his enlightened philanthropy truly marked an era - so much so that a museum is dedicated to him in Bangkok: the Nai Lert Park Heritage Home.

So it is only natural that Patcharavipa Bodiratnangkura - a true jewelry aficionado who graduated from London’s Central Saint Martins in 2014 - inherited the best qualities from this important figure. She has a deep admiration for the culture and traditions of her country, along with an innate sense of being in step with the times, with a certain sensibility, intuition and business acumen. This is what has driven her to create a jewelry line, Patcharavipa, characterized by an esthetic firmly rooted in Thai culture but with a boldness that is creative and personal. In the space inaugurated in Bangkok in January - located in a family-owned building from the 1980s in the Bank of America complex in the Chidlom district - the jewels truly highlight their creative dualism based on the differences in terms of materials used, the diametrically opposed relationship among shapes and the juxtaposition of sensuality and natural realism. The jewelry boutique, which is 100 square meters in size with design by the Cigue architecture firm from Paris, is fully in line with the collection. There are museum-like corners furnished with stone monoliths to highlight the sculptural forms of each piece along with delicate colors for the walls and floor that serve to contrast the dark display cases, which pick up on the style of the Nai Lert Park Heritage Home. Interwoven LED lights make for a sophisticated, contemporary atmosphere.
