Schaffrath's Diamond Mission

Schaffrath has a real mission: to emphasize the beauty of diamonds, the only star of all its collections

If you dedicate almost a hundred years of research to enhancing the beauty and the light of diamonds, the result can only be superlative. This is demonstrated by Schaffrath which brings to Vicenzaoro September 2019, a selection of jewels in which the diamond reveals ever new potentials. The Liberté, Calla and Colortaire collections stand out for their bold style that will not lose allure over time: this is possible thanks to some exceptional techniques developed to give an always original look to the stones most loved by women. The diamond expresses its revolutionary side in the collection Liberté which features a unique setting technique, allowing the diamond to move freely in the jewel while remaining secure. Like in the ring L1062, a model made of solid gold crowned with a two-carat diamond. Jewels from the iconic collection Calla are another example of Schaffrath expertise. In the jewels of this line, the diamond is held by two almost invisible notches in the two surrounding mirror surfaces. It is also fixed from below with an axis at a third point. To do this, the axis must be fused directly below the stone with both sides of the ring. A feat that can only be achieved by goldsmiths specially trained in this filigree craftsmanship. «We created great drama by using obvious contradictions, we also worked with a small optical illusion,» said Alexander Leuz who is responsible for the design. He is one of two managing directors at Schaffrath, running the company – now in its fourth generation – with his cousin Christian Schaffrath, who heads the sales and marketing departments of the family-owned company. The new Colortaire is the most casual and young collection: composed by colorful bracelets made of cords mixed with gold and diamonds, it shows once again how diamond jewelry can be really edgy.
