Vicenzaoro Opens Today

Creativity, artisan and industrial know-how, technological innovation, marketing and communication strategies, art and culture. This is the interesting mix that IEG Italian Exhibition Group is offering at this edition of Vicenzaoro January 2020 by alternating moments of in-depth reflection on the most current themes in every aspect of the supply chain during the six days of the show.  An event that, for years now, has been the largest European Gold and Jewelry trade show, an icon of excellence and the highlight of over 50 trade show events organized every year by IEG, the company led by President Cagnoni and new Managing Director, Corrado Peraboni. The work will formally begin with the Cibjo conference on responsible supply, sustainability and Small to Medium-sized Enterprise (at 11 am in Hall 7.1, Tiziano Room), while the usual Visio.Next event is set to begin at 5 pm in Palladio Theatre. Generated from a project that follows the strategic lines defined by ICE (Italian Trade Agency) to support the evolution and reinforcement of the entire gold and jewelry supply chain, Visio.Next provides an overall assessment of made in Italy jewelry with the support of Club degli Orafi Italia and the direct involvement of three of its members, Bulgari, De Beers and Vhernier, in a partnership that strengthens IEG’s role as an innovation and development hub at the service of sector companies. A mission that rings loud and clear in the words of Patrizia Cecchi, Chief Exhibitions Italy Division at IEG: «This year, we are focusing on three strategic priorities. First and foremost, Vicenzaoro aims to become an ever-greater accelerator with the Italian jewelry system at the core. A highly attractive showcase for high-range international buyers, because it is only here that they are able to see the sector’s true new entries, starting, obviously, with Italian jewelry. Secondly, we want to apply the concept of cross-fertilization to the entire supply chain and thirdly, open up to companies with assets that can be applied to the jewelry supply chain, even if their core business is not actually jewelry». Not just business but also training, adds Marco Carniello, Jewelry and Fashion Division Manager at IEG Italian Exhibition Group: «The Show also provides a crucial moment to address the so-called “skill-mismatch” between the educational world, that is, students, and companies. Two universes that find it hard to converse but which now, thanks to the many activities enacted by IEG and the “Golden Factor” program adopted by VIOFF – the “Off Show” that involves the historical city center – will begin to build relations through a series of open days, talent talks and a university hackathon, organized in collaboration with institutional partners, such as Confindustria Moda. Lastly, another strategic point of no less importance, is how the  exhibition is becoming more and more of an “innovation platform” for the gold-jewelry industry». And there is a special place where this is happening. With its 169 exhibitors from 17 countries, T.Gold, which is staged at the same time in Hall 9, has become the hub for world technology. In fact, on 19th January, it will also be staging the much-awaited JTF, Jewelry Technology Forum event, the result of collaboration between Italian Exhibition Group and Legor Group S.p.A. A one-of-a-kind training opportunity where the “Research and Development” of the most internationally advanced organizations come into fundamental contact with all the jewelry sector insiders. This year, JTF will be joined by StartUp & Carats, the initiative generated in collaboration with Italian Trade Agency to develop innovation by promoting recently launched business projects, and by a hackathon which, in collaboration with the university environment, will promote research into innovative solutions for the sector. Last but not least, besides the return of consolidated successful formats, such as Gem Talks, Digital Talks and TV Talk – TrendvisionJewellery + Forecasting, this edition will also see the debut of VO Vintage, dedicated to the charm of vintage watches and jewelry. Not just an exhibition but also, especially in regard to watches, a chance to meet some of the most famous names in the sector. Some examples? The master of mechanisms and complications,
Giulio Papi, experts Ugo Pancani and Stefano Mazzariol, Verga Vintage and, of course, Michele Mengoli, who has always been an enthusiast and authoritative voice in timepiece journalism. And, dulcis in fundo, Sandro Fratini, the Florentine entrepreneur who, on Monday evening, will be speaking about how his now legendary collection of more than 2,000 pieces, worth an estimated one billion Euros, actually began.
