All eyes on the Dior VIII Grand Bal Plume 2017 CNY Limited Edition

Celebrating Chinese zodiac is definitely one of the hottest trends seen over the course of the last years in jewellery and watchmaking. What never ceases to amaze is the incredible amount of genius and aesthetic boldness the biggest brands of luxury are able to convey when embedding these mythical animals in their precious creations. And to symbolize the Year of the Rooster, which has officially started on January 27^th, French luxury maison Dior created a striking limited edition of its iconic “Grand Bal Plume” watch. This new version - the Dior VIII Grand Bal Plume 2017 Chinese New Year Limited Edition - is adorned with a sun-brushed yellow gold and red-coloured dial, a dazzling red alligator strap and an oscillating weight embellished with rooster feathers.

This model houses an automatic movement, unique to the Maison Dior, the "Dior Inverse 11 1/2" calibre, featuring a patented and functional oscillating weight recreating the swirl of a ball gown.  Combining a feather-maker's expertise, specific to Haute Couture, with watchmaking technology, the oscillating weight is elaborated with great finesse, like a feathered petticoat padded with gold and diamonds.  The limited edition consists of only 88 pieces.
