Cufflinks: Enriched Boardroom Accessories

Text Preeta Agarwal

Cufflinks saw their advent in the 1600’s, but they acquired requisite clout in the mid 20th century. Having garnered much popularity in the corporate circles, they are an ever-growing phenomenon as an important boardroom accessory among today’s metrosexual men.

With Father’s Day, celebrated on the 3rd Sunday of June, closing in, I sit and wonder how cufflinks have also become one of the first choices for gifting whether it is for your father or your beloved. But, can you just pick any pair for the man of your life? Or do extra thought requires to be put in?

Famed names in the jewellery industry like De beers, De Grisogono, Fabergé, Forevermark, The House of Rose, Farah Khan and many more offer various interpretations of the cufflinks, incorporating cultural and artistic dynamics of global sorts. Taking creativity to another notch, their design ideas often originate everything from simple geometrical variations to the complex caricatures, objects from daily life, flora & fauna to Indian miniature paintings, Jadau, enamel and kundan polki.

With such a wide range of unconventional selections available, making the right choice is really important. As, being one of the most common accessories sported by a man, apart from his watch, cufflinks depict a very important aspect of an individual’s persona. Perking up the corporate attire with objects of likes is the new way of formal dressing to liven up the workplace.

Depicting passion of high-end sports cars to airplanes and other objects of a man’s desire can be easily found as designs for cufflinks these days. So why not put in an extra thought and think what interests father him and chose gifts that go well beyond the realms of the corporate boardroom in defining him. You can also take your father by surprise by having his initials etched on these cufflinks, making this father’s days a memorable one.
