About Volumes, an exhibition about space and forms in jewelry

Last April during the Milano Design Week 2017, A/dornment, the curatorial integrated project dedicated to contemporary art jewelry based in Venice, explored the idea of volumes in jewelry with an exhibition where 15 designers were able to develop original shapes while challenging the space in different ways. Now, A/dornment continues its research and exploration of the boundaries of jewelry design with a brand new exhibition that will open on June 28th  at the Sottoportico degli Oresi - San Polo 71 A.

Located in the surroundings of the Rialto Bridge - a very evocative area that has always carried an important heritage in the jewelry making tradition - the exhibition About Volumes presents us with the work by 12 jewelry designers: Iro Kaskani plays with the idea of space and symmetry through the combination of precious and non-precious materials; Anne-Sophie Vallée and Wing-han Wong rather choose to  focus on creating formal optic illusions, the first through the dynamism of shapes that change using magnets, the second through the tangle of wires; Letizia Maggio presents a new collection of silver and Limoges porcelain necklaces made with photographic print; Rie Makino and Ria Lins give rise to different type of jewelry, but in both cases they are the result of a careful and sophisticated work of fabrics and metals sewn together, must touch pieces, made to fit the body movements; María Eugenia Muñoz Curbelo explores the concept of interactivity, with her playful and ironic version of pendants-colored kaleidoscopes; Fabrizio Bonvicin creates wooden objects whose apparent heaviness works as a powerful symbol in order to trigger our awareness of space, materials and volumes; and Myriam Bottazzi presents a collection of necklaces composed of imperfect, jagged, consumed and repeated circles and squares. The exhibition will be open through August 27th.
