Crafted to Slow Down, the New Issue of VO+

The September issue of VO+ is coming out, exploring the new languages of luxury through friction placement, education, fine jewelry, and new ways of experiencing and desiring jewelry, featuring interviews, in-depth articles, analyses, and market trends

The latest narrative surrounding luxury unfolds through new concepts - less overt, more conscious, and increasingly unpredictable - venturing into unexpected territories. It is here that jewelry, even at its most precious, proves it can belong in the most unlikely of settings, such as a tennis court, where its beauty and value are enhanced by what might be called the "unpredictability factor": the defining principle of friction placement, a theme we explore extensively in this new issue. VO+ September takes stock of aspects of the luxury world that remain relatively unexplored by the mainstream market, yet now lie at the heart of emerging narratives that reject spectacle and ostentation in favour of building a jewel's value through culture, expertise, and authenticity. Within this framework, we examine the concept of "cultured luxury" as a form of knowledge, analysing new educational models. From the hands-on approach of the Savannah College of Art and Design in the United States to the regenerative vision of London's Central Saint Martins, learning moves beyond the traditional classroom into unexpected environments, where engagement with the creative industries fosters new skills and opens up fresh perspectives. New imaginaries also take centre stage in our report on Paris Haute Joaillerie, celebrated for its enduring ability to transcend convention; in the travel diary of a new generation of jewelry travellers, redefining the geography of desire; and in the most unconventional reaches of the high-end world, where steel is being rediscovered for its resilience and character. These authorial dialogues seek to anticipate - and inspire - the tangible responses of tomorrow's consumer: the Restorer.
