When Erin Webb founded Déhanche three years ago, her goal was to give belts a central role in women's wardrobes. The brand quickly won over the world of accessories, thanks to a generous range of products going from elegant and minimalist models to more daring, architectural pieces, perfect for completing outfits for any occasion.
But Webb's creativity was too vast to be confined to just one type of product, which is why the designer chose to include her sculptural style in jewelry. After all, if a belt can become a cult object, why couldn't a piece of jewelry acquire the same aura of glamor as a leather accessory?
«I have always loved the idea of coordinating pieces, as my grandmother did with her matching jewelry sets. It is a luxurious and nostalgic idea, but here we interpret it in a modern key with metallic elements that women already wear every day,» she explains.
Designed in Paris and handmade in Los Angeles, Webb's hometown, the first collection captures the brand's bold and intellectual spirit. The jewelry items are precision-crafted, architectural miniatures in sterling silver or gold vermeil, replicating the metal elements on the most iconic belts.
Like the Hollyhock earring or necklace, which echo the details of the first Déhanche belt, or the Brancusi cuff, which pays homage to the curved buckle inspired by Constantin Brancusi's works in brass, and the Tetra earring, influenced by the hand-hammered buckle of the brand's best-selling belt.
The interplay between the waistline and the body becomes a new idea in pairing to obtain a personal and instantly recognizable style. And while the name Déhanche refers to an elegant and seductive style, like that of Greek sculptures, classical reminiscence now becomes a metaphor for movement, strength and personality in jewelry’s contemporary language.
