Harkness Brings Organized Chaos to Jewelry
Phoebe and Georgina, founders of the Harkness brand, reimagine the concept of jewelry with the idea of organized chaos: the matching of irregular stones and asymmetrical shapes looks accidental but delivers a seductive harmony

Can the concept of chaos communicate with jewelry, traditionally linked to an ideal of formal purity? Sisters Phoebe and Georgina, founders of the Harkness brand, established between York City and Melbourne in 2024, are proposing their idea of “organized chaos”, which translates into the choice of irregular stones and asymmetrical shapes that appear random but actually create a harmonious balance. The intention is to see jewelry as works of art without frames, not confined within the walls of a gallery or a home. They are, in fact, functional miniature sculptures, meticulously finished to be worn, felt on the skin, and experienced on a daily basis. What interests Phoebe and Georgina most is what they call the “Lean-In Effect”: that unconscious, physical moment when someone, attracted by a detail, spontaneously moves closer to observe it. The brand responds to this curiosity with extremely accurate designs, aimed at evoking an immediate and visceral connection.
