Have you ever tried to hold a piece of marble in your hands? This noble material, with its heavenly colors and fluid grains, besides being of incomparable aesthetic beauty, is forceful and pleasant to touch. So why not use it as a special gem for making jewelry? After all, the word 'marble' (from the Greek mármaros) actually means ‘shining stone’! The trend seems to have already won over several jewelers - we already mentioned it last January here - and has now been mirrored in Carrara, which is currently bustling with a full calendar of events aimed at promoting this great natural heritage 'donated' by the majestic mountains that irradiate a special light. Among the top events was a show entitled 'Unexpected Lightness', held last Saturday, June 2nd, in the suggestive setting of the Fantiscritti quarries: an exceptional location offered by Erich Lucchetti, where, on a sunny afternoon, fashion, dance and design intertwined to reveal a new interpretation of Carrara marble that is as captivating as it is contemporary.

Featured in the catwalk were the fashion creations of the Lt Gold Standard brand by Ludovico Torri and Zona67 Jewelry by Fiammetta Vanelli, demonstrating how limits and stereotypes can be overcome by providing an unprecedented re-interpretation of a prestigious and exclusive material which, through new technological methods, acquires lightness, a property that, until now, was incompatible with its powerful nature. From Paonazzo marble to the highly famous Statuario, from white Carrara to Portoro marble from Porto Venere, the most exclusive marble varieties, finely worked into precious gems, have generated original necklaces, rings and bracelets, mounted on silver, brass and copper thread and some very precious buttons: decorative elements that are simultaneously functional on Ludovico Torri's modern tunics/pajamas.
