Martina Kocianova’s Singular Amulets
Raised wandering through the woods, artist and designer Martina Kocianova translates the organic forms of mushrooms into precious talismans with a surrealist edge

Mushrooms are Martina Kocianova’s favorite talismans, an artist and gem carver who lives between London and Slovakia. Authentic works of surrealist inspiration, her jewelry merges hand-carved precious stones with gold and silver. «I grew up wandering through the woods with my mother, filling baskets with mushrooms. When I carve and design, I return to that childhood imagination, finding faces in tree bark, textures in stones, and a sense of magic. I see mushrooms as contemporary lucky charms and I want to connect with people through their symbolism, in the hope that everyone will find their own meaning in them,» says the designer, who presented her new collection of mushroom-shaped pendants and earrings at Dover Street Market in London last November.
