Begun in 1893, Mikimoto's lengthy love affair with cultured pearls has been renewed with a passionate twist. Passionoir, the brand's new collection, reveals a new and unprecedented dark look. The famous Japanese brand explores the more seductive side of South Sea pearls, subjecting them to the Japanned Noir technique, which involves a black rhodium bath. The chemical reaction caused by the strong contrast between the purity of the pearls and the mysterious power of black generates gems with an original iridescence that, when grounded on large silver links, become jewels with a pioneering spirit.
