There are places that seem destined to host beauty. And then there's Taormina, transformed by Bvlgari into a stage to unveil Polychroma: a collection that explores the infinite nuances of color through around 250 new High Jewelry and High-End Watch creations. A total of 600 pieces were showcased – the highest number ever presented by the Maison – and five extraordinary masterpieces. The debut took place in the heart of classical Sicily, between the Grand Hotel Timeo and the ancient Greek Theatre, where the collection was brought to life with a performance in three acts. Looks by Francesco Murano, choreography by Sir Wayne McGregor, and a dreamlike scenography of suspended veils and monumental arches transformed the show into a complete narrative. In the background, a visual language evoking antiquity, while each jewel became a fragment of a story connecting Rome and Sicily. The following day, the former monastery of San Domenico Palace opened like a jewelry box. It was here that Bvlgari set up its most ambitious showroom to date: organza veils inspired by the theatre's ancient velarium, marble and gold sculptures by Riccardo Gatti, volcanic stone and ceramic elements by the Sicilian duo Malagioie. The effect was theatrical, yet never excessive. The five “Gallery of Wonders” presented the Maison’s most exceptional pieces, displayed beneath tapestries inspired by the works of Zach Lieberman and Alessandro Florio, and set around a handcrafted mosaic featuring Bvlgari’s signature eight-pointed star.
Two pioneering installations further enriched the dialogue between art and technology: a mixed reality piece by Giuseppe Lo Schiavo, starring the Menade Farnese statue, and an immersive journey via Apple Vision Pro that explored the chromatic universe of Bvlgari’s gemstones. Then came the debut of Connected Jewelry: a microscopic engraving on the precious metal turns each piece into a digital key, unlocking exclusive information about the jewel with a simple smartphone scan. Polychroma is not just a collection – it’s a layered experience rooted in the Mediterranean and projected forward. Proof of this is Bvlgari Foundation’s cultural commitment, with two new initiatives: the restoration of a symbolic fresco at Palazzo Corvaja and the creation of a tactile path at the Antonino Salinas Archaeological Museum in Palermo, opening art to visually impaired visitors.Bvlgari celebrates color – but also culture, accessibility and legacy – with a vision that already belongs to the future.
