A golden thread that links responsibility and the future: this is the image that best sums up the essence of the first two events of seven organized by Cibjo for this edition of Vicenzaoro, on sustainability in the jewelry supply chain, scheduled for Saturday, January 17. The first event, at 11.45 am in the Educational Hub, starts with “Introducing the Gold Principles Group”, a group created with the aim of bringing together key players in the global gold industry and promoting ethical and transparent practices throughout the value chain, from the mine to the market. Based on the Gold Industry Declaration of Responsibility and Sustainability Principles of 2022, the GPG addresses crucial issues such as ESG, responsible sourcing, climate change, and artisanal mining, with the aim of building trust and ensuring a sustainable supply chain. The discussion will be moderated by Dave Knight, Sustainable Development and Human Rights Specialist at One Planet, alongside prominent speakers: Gaetano Cavalieri, President of Cibjo, John Mulligan, Head of Sustainability Strategy at the World Gold Council and GPG coordinator, and Iris Van der Veken, Executive Director of the Watch & Jewellery Initiative 2030. Continuing into the afternoon, at 2.30 pm in the Palladio Theater, the “Managing risk and driving change in jewelry supply chains” session will mark the imminent launch of two key tools for the industry: the ESG & Sustainability Reference Guide for the Jewelry Industry and version 2.0 of Cibjo's Responsible Sourcing Blue Book and Toolkit. The meeting will look into how to build solid foundations for managing risks in supply chains and assessing the social and environmental impact of activities in order to transform challenges into opportunities for positive change. The discussion will be led by John Mulligan, President of the Cibjo Sustainability Development Commission and Head of Sustainability Strategy at the World Gold Council, together with experts such as Vivien Johnston Glass from the World Gold Council, Francesca Manfredi from Kering, Iris Van der Veken, and Alice Vanni from Italpreziosi.
