Goodbye Zaha Hadid

The world of design and fashion says goodbye to Zaha Hadid, the Iraqi-British architect who passed away last Thursday, at age 65. The beloved archistar was renowned for her sculptural and futuristic design. Her design work has extended to a variety of projects, including collaboration with brands such as Chanel, Melissa, Lacoste. She was the first woman architect to be awarded the Pritzker Architecture Prize for her visionary work, in 2004. In 2012, she was appointed Dame Commander of the British Empire (DBE). Last February she was awarded the Royal Gold Medal for architecture by the Royal Institute of British Architects. Earlier this month at Baselworld, Hadid introduced an eight-piece jewelry collection in collaboration with Georg Jensen: rings and cuff bangles inspired by Beijing’s Wangjing Soho complex, a recent project she had designed.
