Ready to “loot”? New York’s MAD Museum annual sale opens today

Tonight the opening gala, from tomorrow on the MAD Museum in New York will welcome jewellery lovers to showcase 50 rising stars of international goldsmithing. Among them shines a new, bright Italian talent: Giulia Barela.
Remember the amazed look in the eyes of the boys and girls who visit Willy Wonka’s Chocolate Factory in the 1971 masterpiece by Mel Stuart? Well, that’s exactly the kind of astonishment the jewellery lovers visiting LOOT: MAD About Jewellery will get from tomorrow until Saturday, when The Museum of Arts and Design of New York presents its annual exhibition and sale featuring designs from more than 50 emerging and acclaimed international jewelry artists.

This is an incredible opportunity to discover designers that are still unknown to the mainstream venue and wil definitely take over the scene, this becoming the next big things of this world. Among them, this year there is also an Italian talent, the Roman jewellery artisan Giulia Barela. Giulia will exhibit some of her collections that represent her rich, sculptural style, including Indian Leaves, Knot, Textures, as well as some unique pieces of great craftsmanship and style thanks realized through the ancient technique of lost wax casting.

"I'm happy to expose my creations at MAD Museum in New York on the occasion of this exhibition that I always followed with great interest. I am honored to be among the five designer called to represent the creativity and excellence of Italian style in one country, the United States, which I have always seen as an opportunity to grow and evolve, not just artistically but as a human being. " said Giulia Barela about her participation.

Other highlighs of the exhibition include international artist who followed the theme of the exhibition by creating amazing jewelry with an organic, natural feel. Among them: Hebe Argentieri (Argentina); Katharina Eder (Austria); Ute van der Plaats (Belgium); and Aino Favén (Finland). Today, LOOT is being launched by an opening benefit event celebrating Camilla Dietz Bergeron, Francine LeFrak and Kara Ross.
