The importance of being Carolina Bucci

The importance of being Carolina Bucci

Adored and revered by the worldwide high-end and haute couture scene, Carolina Bucci is a designer like no other. Nobody, in fact, can blend the Italian heritage with high concepts of design the way she does.
Among Carolina Bucci’s merits there is the capacity to redefine Fine Jewellery in an unprecedented way. The designer comes from a family with a rich history of jewelry making. Hand-woven with boldly colored silks on a Florentine textile loom dating back to the Renaissance, her signature collection of gold charm bracelets and necklaces embody the spirit of the label – what she calls “respect for the old while grasping the new.”

A special place in Carolina Bucci’s production is dedicated to the Superstellar collection. When asked how the collection is born, she replies:  “The answer is very clear. These particular stars were born on August 10th 2014 — the night of San Lorenzo in Italy, when the Perseid Meteor shower appears in the night sky, and I knew for sure that the new collection had to feature stars. Over the coming months I kept returning to the theme — in Jasper Johns' flag paintings, in details on the ceiling of Florence's Duomo and in the beautiful stenciled 60s artwork of Mario Schifano. In particular I wanted to focus on individuality — no 2 shooting stars are the same — and so this collection encourages a mix and match approach to earrings. Sold singly in various coloured pave finishes and with or without long shooting star earring backs. They are to be collected and combined however the mood takes you.”

There is also a fresh change of silhouette — necklaces have become shorter, and for the first time in years this collection features chokers. And rings have become flat — the new SUPERSTELLAR shield rings sit like a jeweled carapace for the little finger. There are "Life" pendants, which are diamond gauges to be filled with stones according to your taste, and a reintroduction of pearls into the collections — this time mostly in an elegant grey tone, and punctuated by pave stars in multicolour stones.

With the Superstellar Collection, Carolina Bucci also paid a tribute to the heritage and tradition of the Bucci family that has been in business for over 130 years.

Stars and fireworks will never go out of fashion. And thanks to Carolina Bucci, they can be considered as an authentic milestone of high jewellery design and craftsmanship.
