Jewelry’s hottest designs take the stage at the HKIJS 2017
The Hong Kong International Jewellery Show, which opened on March 2 and will run until tomorrow, March 6, is confirmed as one of the most influential global showcases of the latest jewelry and luxury trends.
Until tomorrow, visitors of the HKIJS are still on time to marvel at the many wonders the exhibit has to offer. The Show hosts elegant displays in nine themed zones. The Hall of Fame comes to the spotlight with 40 exclusive jewellery brands. The Hall of Extraordinary gathers fine jewellery collections. The World of Glamour showcases the design of Hong Kong jewellers. The Antique and Vintage Jewellery Galleria houses classic charms to connoisseurs’ taste. The Designer Galleria is home to vibrant designs in vogue. There are also the Hall of Jade Jewellery for Asian jadeite, Treasures of Craftsmanship for decorative items, the Hall of Time for luxury timepieces, as well as Wedding Bijoux for mementos of love.
At the Hall of Extraordinary, a subtle and elegant 12-Carat Lily® Diamond Ring by Lili Jewelry Ltd. from Hong Kong comes to the spotlight. The main stone is a 12-carat patent Lily® diamond, paved with 560 small round diamonds on the border. The brilliant ring totals 18 carats and values at USD 520,000. At Designer Galleria, KMC Design showcases a masterpiece of local jewellery design, Flowing Mist. It is a pendant as well as a brooch, and brings out the traditional nuance and organic lines of a jade piece through contemporary design and inlay.
The result is a perfect marriage of precious stones and precious metals with excellent visual tension. Stylish watches and clocks at the Hall of Time are an epitome of jewellery craftsmanship and advanced modern technology, such as the debut 18K Diamond Tourbillon Watch by Anpassa Watch Company from Hong Kong. It ranks the fourth in tourbillon watchmaking globally and is the thinnest of its kind manufactured in Asia. The case is 33mm across and only 8.1mm thick, with natural diamonds precisely set on the bottom plate and bezel, embodying the superb craftsmanship of the brand. [/smart-photo] The Diamond, Gem and Pearl Show offers jewellery raw materials in three special zones: the Hall of Fine Diamonds for dazzling diamonds, Treasures of Nature for quality gemstones, and Treasures of Ocean for precious pearls. At the Hall of Fine Diamonds, Paco Art HK Ltd. from Hong Kong brings a rare Oval-shaped Diamond. Ranked D (colourless) for colour and Flawless for clarity, the 10-carat diamond is unique in its shape, size and making, with a value of USD 1.3 million. In the same zone, House of Art from Hong Kong exhibits a Polished Diamond of over 108 carats in fancy deep brownish greenish yellow. Its shape is cut-cornered rectangular, with a modified brilliant cut, valuing over USD 7.6 million. At Treasures of Nature, another Hong Kong company Hatta New World Co., Ltd. displays an exquisite Paraiba Necklace. Paraiba was discovered only recently in 1989 in Brazil, but its hypnotic neon blue resembling Hollywood swimming pools quickly captivated the market. [/smart-photo] The HKTDC organises the Hong Kong Jewellery Design Competition with Hong Kong Jewellers’ & Goldsmiths’ Association, Hong Kong Jewellery & Jade Manufacturers Association, Hong Kong Jewelry Manufacturers' Association and Diamond Federation of Hong Kong, China. Winners of the student group and the open group have been announced, all of which allude to the theme “Follow Your Heart” with sophisticated design and artistry. Winning pieces are on display during the Jewellery Show at Hall 1D Concourse. The biennial International Jewellery Design Excellence Award (IJDE) is the Oscars of the jewellery design industry with an aim to recognise outstanding jewellery designers and facilitate information exchange in design, professionalism and craftsmanship. This year, the competition received 165 submissions from winners of various jewellery design competitions from 27 countries and regions, all vying to become the “champion of the champions”. The award presentation ceremony was held 2 March.
