Unprecedented is a word that is generally used to describe a very rare, unusual event and should therefore be used parsimoniously. But when it comes to Cartier, unprecedented is “business as usual”. The French maison is well-known for its leading role in the history of fine jewelry as well as in its present and future. And to celebrate the constant evolution of a brand that embodies all things beautiful and luxurious, Cartier opened on Saturday at the Cartier Mansion, the historic flagship in New York on the Fifth Avenue, an exhibition that has the word “unprecedented” written all over it. With the “Cartier Haute Joaillerie Exhibition”, the largest collection of Cartier High Jewelry will be showcased (until October 29th) for the first time ever in the U.S. in a public exhibition. Over 500 extraordinary jewels will take the visitor on a journey between past and present. The past – a glorious one – is embodied by a remarkable collection of vintage jewels that were once the property of some of the most powerful and rich families of the nation – the Woolworths and the Vanderbilts – as well as iconic divas like Liz Taylor. From the legendary Panthère to the Tutti Frutti jewelry pieces, these items, that Cartier repurchased and brought to a new life throughout the decades, are guaranteed to astonish and amaze.

The present is represented by the new Cartier collection on display: Résonances de Cartier. The new selection, comprising over 100 pieces, is designed to symbolize Cartier’s mastery in using style and light to create unique masterpieces. The 260 skilled artisans working for the Maison created a range of pieces that echo the most iconic motifs of the Maison while boasting an eclectic, multi-colored array of stones: from emeralds to sapphires, from diamonds to rubies all the way to fire opals, green beryls and smoky quartzs. The pieces exhibited will also be available for sale. The “Cartier Haute Joaillerie Exhibition” is an amazing opportunity to witness the greatness of one of the most iconic jewelry brands and to see the new, exciting scenarios and visions brought by the new CEO,  Cyrille Vigneron.
