Fabio Salini Donates 50 Jewels to The Art of Wishes

On 7 September, the Roman designer will donate 100% of the proceeds from the auction sale at Sotheby's to The Art of Wishes charity

One of the world’s most innovative and individualistic jewelers, Fabio Salini has donated over 50 signature pieces from his collection to be auctioned by Sotheby’s on the 7th September.  With an estimated value of 2m, 100% of the proceeds will be donated to the UK based charity, The Art of Wishes. The auction will form part of Sotheby’s Luxury Edit which runs throughout September.  The pieces that are going on auction will be on display at Sotheby’s Bond Street from the 1st September until the auction on the 7th September.

Over the past three years, during the trials and tribulations of a global pandemic, Fabio Salini has repeatedly found himself questioning what the role that art has in times of crisis.  He has long believed in the ability of art to change lives; as well as to be admired, art has an important social, civic, and humanitarian function.  However, it wasn’t until the pandemic afforded him time to reflect fully on this belief that Salini felt struck by the urgent desire to use the beauty he had created to also help those in need.

«I have always wanted to elevate jewellery to a form of fine art and what is the purpose of art if it cannot change lives. My works are an an aesthetic expression of concepts and feelings, and the events of the past three years made me question how I could use these works to help those less fortunate.  I was searching for a greater purpose for my work and as such am delighted to be auctioning this body of work in aid of The Art of Wishes- it is a magnificent charity that seeks to deliver dreams and experiences to children who are going through very difficult times» Fabio Salini says. It is this transformative power that Batia Ofer, founder of The Art of Wishes, believes will have a similar magic-effect on the children that the charity supports. «I would like to thank Fabio Salini on behalf of the Art of Wishes and Make-a-Wish UK and also offer my sincerest gratitude for this truly transformative gesture. I have always been a huge admirer of his exquisite jewellery, and when he proposed this collaboration I was genuinely overwhelmed by his generosity. We know that when a child sees the seemingly impossible come true it empowers them with hope, so in making this donation, Fabio will not only help make the wishes of thousands of children come true, but also make a meaningful impact on their lives,» Batia Ofer adds.
