Japonisme(s)
Japanese and European artists meet in Paris for an exclusive exhibition at the Pierre-Alain Challier Gallery
The Parisian gallery Pierre-Alain Challier hosts the exhibition Japonisme(s), an interesting proposal of works characterized by the mutual influence of Japanese and European artists. As already highlighted in a previous article, the artistic liaison between Japan and France began way back in 1873, when master engraver, Philippe Burty, coined the term Japonisme to indicate the attraction and interest that French painters had in the Rising Sun's art. Today Pierre-Alain Challier brings to light this wonderful dialogue between East and West through the creations of fifteen artists. On show: Aicanon, Jean-Loup, Champion, Isabella Ducrot, Stéphane Erouane Dumas, Yoshimi Futamura, Constance Fulda, Tetsuo Harada, Patrick Hourcade, Annabelle d'Huart, Marie Hugo, Yayoi Kusama, Sophie de Laporte, Claire de Lavallée Hubert Le Gall Alexandra Loewe, Lassad Métoui, Nendo, Zoé Ouvrier, Marie-Noëlle of La Poype, Keiichi Tahara, Hélène Tran, Nils-Udo, Claire de Virieu, Kimiko Yoshida. A tribute to all those who, as the gallery owner Pierre-Alain Challier, don't know yet this country but are intrigued by the culture and beauty of a misterious and fascinating land.
