Maximalism Details
The details no longer recede into the background but acquire a definite role of opulent appeal and strong suggestions
In recent years we have given vent to a jewelry trend that long has been nurtured by small items and clean, simple and unexaggerated lines. It was undoubtedly a reaction to the excesses of fashion jewelry in the first decade of the millennium which, in a short time, had shunned fine jewelry and unleashed the creativity of so many designers stolen from the fashion world. But here we are, facing what one could define as a return to more aspirational costume jewelry. And we do it with collections that dialogue with each other for a strong maximalist inclination. From fresh off the launch-pad, Leda Madera, who, with her first collection, Season 1, opens a new chapter in sophisticated, 1980s-style bijoux, to bijoux jewelry by Acne Studio with its aggressive and provocative soul and earrings that “mimic” the profiles of the most precious gems. Last but not least, the exuberance of Accentuate Jewelry which, from its native Kiev, offers a profusion of energy with one-of-a-kind jewelry, all hand-made following the intuition of designer Elena Romanenko.
