Working with minimalist forms and successfully conveying their purity through effective design requires a rare sense of balance. Susana Martins has made this her signature style. The Portuguese designer, goldsmith and gem setter has set a highly personal tone, expressed through fluid volumes, sculptural surfaces and geometries that generously complement the body’s contours. This intention is clearly evident in the new “Signature. Diamond Edition” capsule collection, featuring curves, negative spaces and intelligent proportions that create a spectacular rhythm around the diamonds, amplifying their presence and highlighting their character. The jewelry is the result of careful attention to movement and the relationship between matter and space. The design process combines artistic sensitivity and technical discipline from the initial sketch to the final creation, lending a concrete and elegant logic to dynamic lines. As in the Calatrava Strokes earrings, where tapered gold commas enhance the anatomy of the ear, culminating in a striking pear-shaped diamond pendant. In the Unstoppable hoop earrings, on the other hand, the designer has set a marquise-cut diamond within the line of the piece itself. The circular, thin and precise gold profile frames the gem like a point of moving light, creating a composition where geometric precision and visual lightness coexist. More sculptural in design, the Calatrava 5 Gloss Strokes ear cuffs feature five bands of polished gold that follow a swirling pattern until they meet a removable pear-shaped diamond. The structure wraps around the ear with a sense of continuity, while the stone adds a bright accent to complete the design. The Devious Arcadia pendant ring takes this exploration into the realm of volume. Sculpted from a single continuous form, it hosts a pear-shaped diamond in a carefully calibrated interplay of curves and openings. Every movement reveals a different perspective, highlighting the stone’s presence on the hand.
