Simplicity is a prerogative that requires great commitment. An awareness found in ethics as well as in jewelry by Corali. Created in Copenhagen in 2017 from the imagination of architect Caroline Sillesen, it embodies the typical understatement of the North. Caroline has been working on the project since 2022 with Maria Hjortdal, with whom she shares an aesthetic that favors timeless, essential forms, designed to accompany us throughout our lives, and essential ethical values. «I like to think of jewelry as something that, while contemporary, still echoes forgotten eras and has a broader sense of time. Each piece is a little treasure that will last more than a lifetime if cared for properly.» Simplicity also emerges in the decision to work locally within a short radius, so that goldsmiths and foundries can be reached mostly on foot or by bicycle. «We cultivate relationships with all our goldsmiths, visiting them several times a week. It is very important for us to keep production local, not only because we value Danish craftsmanship, but also because it guarantees an ethical supply chain, and fair working conditions.» The materials are strictly recycled and handmade: 14-karat solid gold, sterling silver sourced exclusively from Denmark through Nordic Urban Mining, a sustainable method of recovery from local waste. Gems are also selected according to strict criteria: AA-certified Akoya cultured pearls from Japan and AA freshwater pearls from Chinese rivers; Top Wesselton VVS conflict-free diamonds are certified according to the Kimberley Process, approved by the World Federation of Diamond Bourses, and comply with the World Federation Code of Principles (WFCOP). This strict sourcing process is accompanied by a production practice consistent with the brand's aesthetics and ethics: avoid overproduction and minimize waste. Most of the jewelry is made to order, while all metal scraps are saved, remelted and transformed into new pieces. A virtuous cycle that reflects a frugal ideal: own less, own better. When worn, Corali jewelry keeps its promise. Visible yet discreet and, just like the functional architecture scattered among the Nordic landscape, it expresses a sense of calm, integrity and care.
