The Fabulous Thirties
New light at Bulgari’s flagship store in Via Montenapoleone 2. With echoes of Ponti and Portaluppi architecture
The daring renovation of Bulgari’s flagship store in Milan contains the unmistakable imprint of Piero Portaluppi and the echo of Gio Ponti’s sculptured lines. A much-desired tribute to two great interpreters of Milanese architecture in the Thirties from Peter Marino – the name behind this Bulgari boutique since 2015 - who has just completed the restyling of the historical premises in Via Montenapoleone 2. The made-to-measure fittings were once again supplied by Vicenza company Zordan, which already co-created the two previous outfittings. “As we already did at the Barcelona flagship store in 2018, as well as at other stores outfitted for Bulgari, we placed all our know-how at disposal at the Milan location in order to enhance the brand’s unmistakable personality,” said Giuseppe Caruso, Zordan’s project manager responsible for the restyling. “The store, which extends over an area of 280 m² and is one of the most important in Italy, has an entrance hosting the most exclusive Bulgari jewelry; an area dedicated to diamond-embellished bridal items; a gallery, specifically for accessories, which links the main entrance in Via Montenapoleone to the entrance in Via Bagutta; a small courtyard for hospitality adorned with a spectacular floral installation by Japanese artist, Azuma Makoto; and lastly, there is the promenade with an attractive curved area and, in the final and most hidden part of the store, there is the VIP room.” All there is left to do, is to go in person to this sparkling place to touch the black and white marble and gorgeous jewelry.
