The Pleasures of Textiles in Jewelry
The work of Goti, Lucia Odescalchi, and Laure Chamorel invites us to discover new tactile pleasures through jewelry with original textures, inspired by traditional textile craftsmanship
The vintage-rock soul of Goti, the eponymous brand born from the mastery of Riccardo Goti, is also evident in his most ambitious creations, such as the bespoke necklace, which takes three days to complete. A crochet-worked cotton mesh holds silver pendants shaped like sea snails in various sizes and forms. A method that combines traditional Italian savoir-faire with an avant-garde spirit, telling a story of unconventional yet highly exclusive beauty.

Gold, platinum, silver, bronze and precious stones combined with high-tech materials such as silicone, resins and carbon fiber: the decision to blend elements of different natures is what makes the jewelry style of Lucia Odescalchi immediately recognizable. The Roman designer continues her exploration of unprecedented textures in Mythology, her new collection that evokes the power of ancient Greek myths through striking sculptural forms. What sets the pieces apart is a structure of chains, silver threads and crystals that creates an imposing yet surprisingly light metallic fabric.

Creating jewelry with the same sensitivity and precision used in weaving fabric: this was Marie Laure Chamorel’s intention when she founded her eponymous brand. An intention that moves through tactile sensation to arrive at the refined character of creations made entirely by hand. The techniques are the same as those used in textile craftsmanship. Sterling silver, gold or ruthenium are woven together with silk threads, forming fine textures that host diamonds, tourmalines and sapphires. The result is jewelry that caresses the body with the same delicacy as a fine fabric.
