«Young in the Mountains creates jewelry that people use to signify their love. Engagement jewelry has become a serious focus over the last two years, but in addition to that, we also create jewelry for more casual events and celebrations. Lapidary, or art of cutting stones is our specialty. I have been making jewelry for 13 years and once I added the new skill of lapidary I was able to find a niche. I have access to stones that other jewelers do not because I am sourcing them in a responsible way. I focus on American mined stones in particular. By purchasing our inlay materials from miners we meet directly, we can ensure our clients that no child labor was involved or that the funds of the mining were never used to support conflicts or war. The miners we meet are happy and passionate people who love what they do. They have often come from generations of miners. We are proud that we can be a leader in using not only recycled gold and silver with conflict-free diamonds, but also 100% American sourced inlay material. The main challenge to producing sustainable products in the jewelry industry is that most of our materials aer still from the earth. It's just an inevitable fact. How they come to the surface is the aspect of the process that we can be selective about. Knowing the source and the actions involved in their appearance is so important. Our best selling styles are always our signature two piece sets. The Apex triangle diamond set and the Asscher diamond set to be exact. Our Cerclen ring is also stunning and very well received. We pair a more traditional diamond ring with one of our inlay crowns. Combining diamonds with stones like turquoise or local more obscure mined stones gives people a very versatile look. People also can feel good about supporting a small business, working with a company which is against all kinds of discrimination.»
