Boston Made: Arts and Crafts Jewelry and Metalwork

The story of a proper community: over a 30-year period from its inception at the beginning of the 20th century to the stock market crash of 1929

The show, at the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston till 29th March 2020, presents the path of a community of people specialized in the manufacture of jewelry and metals, from the beginning of the twentieth century until the collapse of the stock market of 1929. While observing the ideals promoted by this “association,” the Boston artists have developed an aesthetic that clearly distinguishes their work. Color combinations, precious stones, enamels, leaf motifs and designs inspired by different styles, often very luxurious, are the main features of the creations, which give life to the real “Boston look.”
