Design Alchemy: The Art of Originality in Independent Jewelry

An exhibition showcasing independent jewelry by seven talented women. Running from October 15-20 at Spazio Arte Bagutta, Milan, this event celebrates creativity, nature, and unique craftsmanship.

From an idea by Beatriz Biagi, an international designer with profound knowledge and a great passion for jewelry, the exhibition "Design Alchemy: Shaping Originality" is born. From October 15 to 20, it will take place at the Spazio Arte Bagutta gallery on Corso Garibaldi 17 in Milan.

The protagonists are seven women who share a special bond with the world of jewelry. They come from various countries, having studied, traveled, and experimented. They use palladium and gold, silver and platinum, as well as natural stones, ceramics, resins, enamels, dried flowers, and fragrant berries. They design, mold, sculpt, and photograph. Unique pieces and limited collections always emphasize originality and experimentation. They all have a deep love and respect for the earth and nature. All are independent, creating together a special and unique alchemy—one of their own.

Beatriz Biagi

The curator of the exhibition, she is an internationally recognized designer with significant work experience in Europe, America, and Asia. Passionate about innovation, she successfully navigates aesthetics, the evolution of traditions, technological advancement, and the emotional and social value of jewelry in different cultures. For many years, she has taught jewelry design courses in Milan, Vicenza, and around the world. Whether it’s unique pieces, capsule collections, or special requests, she always brings her clients’ ideas to life.

Maria Bringas

Through her creations, she seeks to transcend traditional boundaries, telling stories and expressing emotions. She draws inspiration from her travels, experimenting with coloring techniques, textures, and transformations of materials and noble metals. Her creativity reaches faraway lands, aiming to convey her artistic vision to those who appreciate and wear her jewelry. She uses mixed techniques, such as lost-wax casting, enameling, and electroforming, overseeing each piece from start to finish. Her art is full of meaning while remaining extremely wearable.

Regina Castillo

Her journey into the world of jewelry has been one of exploration, heritage, and transformation for the past fifteen years. Deep roots anchor her in her culture, experiences, and love of travel. There is always a different conversation between the past and present, connecting life and the joy of color. Her constant search for balance leads her to create pieces that celebrate flight, passion, and the challenge of limits. The intensity is red and vibrant. Each piece of jewelry is a tribute to life, an invitation to dream, remember, and celebrate the power of memory and imagination.

Anna Kostina

Together with her father, she founded Kostin's Lab and creates innovative metal alloys, where creative design meets sophisticated technology. Thanks to the principle of intermetallic strengthening through nanostructuring—commonly used in rocket engines—these alloys emphasize color, strength, durability, and hardness. This results in futuristic jewelry with a stunning color palette obtained solely from alloys, ranging from palladium to platinum and 23K gold to silver. Anna, a graduate in public relations and advertising, also manages corporate communication strategies.

Gigi Mizrahi

An eclectic artist, she expresses her aesthetic sensibility through photography, painting, jewelry-making, and sculpture. She works with precious metals like silver, as well as ceramics and semi-precious stones. Highly attentive to the environment, she transforms flowers, leaves, and branches into impactful jewelry. She rightly considers herself a free and adventurous spirit. The goal of her passionate work is to draw inspiration from pre-Columbian and African art to create wearable pieces. Queen Sofia of Spain has been photographed wearing one of her bracelets.

Lilo Palma

Handmade jewelry, limited editions, and unique pieces, always featuring natural stones, gold, and silver. Her training in Germany and extensive experience have given her a deep understanding of artisanal techniques, which she teaches at her Academy de Orfebres in Mexico City. Working with the most precious materials our planet provides is a fascinating journey for her. Creativity and the use of diverse techniques give her pieces a modern and contemporary allure.

Buba Pierce

She creates unique jewelry that celebrates form, texture, and the natural beauty of gemstones. Working with passion and social commitment, she supports the education of less fortunate girls and their integration into the workforce. With a degree in architecture, her work is characterized by structural beauty and innovative use of space. Her greatest challenge is to create jewelry that not only adorns the wearer but also becomes an integral part of their personality.
