FerrariFirenze: The Italian Twist

A charming 16th century villa on the outskirts of Florence houses the headquarters of the iconic company of well-made Italian style

Ilaria Furlotti is an entrepreneur who cannot stand still. A person who, while she is sealing one project, is already thinking about how to achieve the next one and so on. Over the last forty years, she has managed the growth and sale of numerous well-known brands, and ten years ago, together with her colleague and skilled goldsmith Giulio Ferrari, she founded FerrariFirenze, a brand that sums up all the know-how and centuries-old jewelry tradition rooted in Florence, the cradle of the Renaissance. Echoes and atmospheres of a glorious past that can be found in the company's fascinating headquarters at Villa Corsi Salviati. This 16th-century aristocratic residence on the outskirts of the Tuscan capital now houses twenty or so employees, including designers and craftsmen, who shape what is created by Giulio’s genius loci, all strictly made by hand and totally in-house, from the first sketch to the finished product. A close-knit team that knows how to interpret the company’s spirit and creative dynamism, where one rule prevails: the quality of the raw materials and the detail in the workmanship. All the gold - whether white, pink or yellow - is 18 carat, and the stones are “conflict-free”, natural and in compliance with the Kimberley Process. In other words: ethical.

Among the countless collections produced in this initial decade, some have already become iconic. Bona fide bestsellers with admirers all over the world. Twist Twist, Soffio, Bubbles, Spettinato are among them, where the alternation between Italian and English names is ample indication of the international spirit of a brand whose heart and pride lie in made in Italy. The new entries in the list of bestsellers includes Vito with its soft, sinuous lines and golden waves wrapping around the wrist, neck and fingers with a diamond profile that feels almost soft to the touch. One particular trait of the jewelry is its “malleability” which has led it to be defined as "alive”. Indeed, it is designed for comfortable wear, so much so that every detail has been studied to be anatomical, so to speak, as in the case of the pair of earrings, whose right side is different to the left.
