Oroarezzo, Further and Further Ahead
The Arezzo event broadens its geographical and business horizons with a growing audience of visitors from 109 countries and a new event specifically for fashion accessories
The 43rd edition of Oroarezzo will certainly be remembered, first and foremost for two important new entries that enlivened the event. “Precious Fashion”, an "event within the event", that, on the morning of Monday, 13th May, saw people and voices of reference in the jewelry and fashion accessory industries take turns on stage in Arezzo Expo Center’s Auditorium to share strategies, technologies and common values and plot the road to recovery for high-end fashion accessories.
Promoted by Confindustria Federorafi and “Leather & Luxury” magazine, which edited a survey of sector companies, Precious Fashion ended with a message from the Minister of Enterprise and Made in Italy, Adolfo Urso, who emphasized how the entire sector is working to become the best possible showcase of Italian excellence by focusing on innovative design, manufacturing, the ability to always be at the forefront and to create more sustainable processes. On Tuesday, the last day, the valuable collaboration between IEG and the school and vocational training system staged the Career Day "Open To Young Generation" initiative, held for the second consecutive year.
A unique opportunity to bring together the goldsmiths of tomorrow with the exhibiting companies at the show. Space was also given to young people at Première, the historic Oroarezzo event that, for 33 years, has inspired creativity with a theme proposed, as always, by art director Beppe Angiolini. Alongside the creations of 53 participants in the Design, Fashion, Tradition and Wearable Sculpture categories, the Talents section featured those of young students from Italian goldsmith schools and designers under 30. An expert jury chaired by Angiolini himself awarded joint first prize to Arezzo’s Professional Technical Institute for a sketch by Chiara Angeli and the Giovagnoli Artistic High School in San Sepolcro for a sketch by Asia Barberi. Thanks to the collaboration, free of charge, of local partner companies, both winners will see their creations produced and on display at the fourth Summit of Italian Jewelry to be held in Arezzo in December 2024.
And now for the Oroarezzo '24 numbers: +14% of visitors, equal to +5% compared to 2023, from 109 countries of which 40% from Europe, 16% from the Middle East, 14% from Asia, 13% from the Americas and 8% from both Africa and Turkey. Buyer incoming was also considerable amounting to around 400 from about sixty countries, generated above all by the now consolidated collaboration between IEG, the Italian Trade Agency (ITA), the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation and IEG's international regional advisors. A strategic activity that, as always, was able to intercept market stimuli and requests on a global scale, consequently generating added value in terms of business and exports.
