At her eponymous gallery, founded in London in 2009, Elisabetta Cipriani, Italian by birth and British by adoption, invites internationally renowned contemporary artists to create projects of wearable art that are aesthetically innovative and socially relevant. Her pioneering vision has redefined the boundaries between jewelry and fine art, capturing the imagination of artists and collectors worldwide. «The jewelry I present tells a story, an idea, a connection between the artist and the material. The intention is to communicate the value of creations that are an expression of visual art, to be appreciated as much as a sculpture or a painting,» she explains. At the Coded Couture – Jewelry as Cultural Code in the Age of Artificial Intelligence event, organized by Trendvision Jewellery + Forecasting – the independent observatory of IEG – held on Saturday at Teatro Palladio, she was tasked with presenting jewelry as a playground for artistic, conceptual, and craft experimentation. «I was very happy to participate in the event and to be able to share my vision of jewelry.» For Elisabetta, jewelry is a space of artistic freedom, a place where art becomes intimate without losing its strength. She guided the audience through a selection of conceptual and sculptural wearable works by artists such as Ai Weiwei, Michele Oka Doner, Jannis Kounellis, Joy BC, Giorgio Vigna, Giampaolo Babetto, and Sophia Vari. Their pieces are sculptures that embrace the body as a natural extension, carrying memory, time, and transformation. Technique becomes research, material becomes gesture, and the body becomes the point where meaning is activated. «I hope this presentation offered an intimate yet powerful narrative on continuity, transmission, and presence; a reflection on what is worth preserving, wearing, and passing down from generation to generation.»
