Vicenzaoro Highlights, September 2024: Corporate Responsibility in a Luxury Format
The World Gold Council, the London Bullion Market Association, Gemfields Group, Kering. These and other major players on the global scene contributed to yesterday's seminars, organized by Cibjo, on recycled gold and supply chain traceability
There is a lot of talk about how Millennials are paying more and more attention to the origin of the raw materials in what they wear, thus increasing the demand for garments made from recycled fibers or of an “alternative” nature. The same process is gaining ground in jewelry, also due to the growing demand from regulatory bodies for greater transparency in terms of prevention and origin, as reported in the first of the four seminars, organized by Cibjo, held yesterday at Vicenzaoro. Created in collaboration with the World Gold Council, the seminar was moderated by John Mulligan, Director of Market Relations and Head of Climate Change at the World Gold Council as well as Chairman of Cibjo's Commission for Sustaina- ble Development, who hosted on stage Jonathan Jodry, Chairman of the ISO 174 Technical Committee, Alice Vanni, CSR Director at Italpreziosi SPA, and Sakhila Mirza, Deputy CEO and General Consultant at the London Bullion Market Association (LBMA). At the same time, the global scenario is showing a growing demand, on the part of some leading brands and organizations such as the EU, for traceability in terms of the origin of all jewelry components. This was the focus of yesterday's second seminar: moderated by Edward Johnson, Director of Corporate Responsibility at the Gemfields Group, it featured Martin Leake, Special Advisor for Gemstones at the DMCC in Dubai and Chairman of the Kimberley Process; John Mulligan, Director of Market Relations and Climate Change Officer at the World Gold Council and Chairman of the CIBJO Sustainable Development Committee; and Tai Wong, Director, Global Innovation and Product Development at Platinum Guild International. Also contributing in the discussion were Raluca Anghel, Head of Foreign Affairs and Industrial Relations and the Natural Diamond Council, and Francesca Manfredi, Head of Innovation Watches & Jewellery at the Kering Group of luxury brands.
