Vicenzaoro Special, September 2022: Focus on Made in Sicily

What emerges is a design typicality that binds them to the territory, a stylistic identity that leaves no room for interpretation, an originality in the combination of materials, shapes and processing techniques, increasingly “borrowed” from admirers outside the regional borders. These are the many stylistic and aesthetic features that the twelve Sicilian companies, exhibiting at Vicenzaoro for the first time, thanks to the support of the Sicilian Regional Authorities, will be putting on the table. Authoritative interpretations with a touch of the Mediterranean, the creations by these jewelry companies incorporate a variety of culture combinations - Greek, Roman, Arab, Norman -, personalities and the typical colors of Sicily, revealing different trains of thought, all reasoned and never impulsive, in which all the peculiarities of the individual craftsman are put into play. On show in a joint exhibition in Hall 7 (with a couple of exceptions in Hall 1 and 2 that have already exhibited in the past), the Sicilian companies that have flown to Vicenza are: Roberto Intorre, Izzo Carlo Jewelry, Icudal di Valeria Gurgone, Franco Padiglione Gioielli, Marco Cuppari Jewels, Oroscultura di Giuliana Di Franco, Creazioni Costanzo, Bellia Preziosi, Krea di Bassetta Giuseppa, Lidia Lucchese Gioielli, Guido Conti Creazioni Conti Oro di Sciacca, Chines di Bonaccorsi since 1920. This group of creative jewelry companies offers a cross-section of made-in-Sicily art and craftsmanship, honoring the island’s specificity. With a multitude of craftsmen, the regional identity materializes in an infinite container of materials, cultures, ideas and concepts, ready to be exported beyond the borders. And the goldsmith's art, which, among all arts is one of the expressions that has lent itself most to innovation and proposition, is particularly well suited to divulging so much beauty.
