Lectra Chooses Gerber Technology to Expand in 4.0 Industry

The 300-million-Euro takeover of the American company will be defined at Lectra’s extraordinary shareholders’ meeting on 30 April

Lectra’s strategic expansion plan continues. The French company, which specializes in software and premium technological solutions for the fashion, automotive and furniture sectors, has manifested its intention to acquire the entire capital of Gerber Technology, an American tech company with revenues of 165 million Euros. The Memorandum of Understanding foresees a 175-million-Euro takeover (a combination of cash and debt), plus 5 million in newly-issued Lectra shares which will go to Aipcf VI Funding Lg, an affiliate of American Industrial Partners, a New York private equity and Gerber Technology’s sole shareholder, for a final total amount of 300 million Euros. The agreement, whose last step will be taken on 30 April at Lectra’s extraordinary shareholders’ meeting, is part of a broader plan that, in recent years, has seen the Parisian company put its hands on the Italian company Kubix Link, and the Belgian firm, Rep Use. «It is a historic day for our companies that will bring tremendous opportunities for future growth. We will have investments in innovation and technological capabilities that will be highly beneficial to the industry. They will allow us to create long-term value for our customers and shareholders,» said Daniel Hariri, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer at Lectra. «We are delighted to welcome Gerber Technology’s group of talented professionals to our team. Together, we will be able to grow and expand the services we provide to our customers and help them accelerate their digital transformation.» A digital transformation that, in the current economic context with additional difficulties caused by the pandemic, is proving to be crucial for corporate growth in all sectors. «It has been an honor to lead the transformation of Gerber Technology and create an efficient, comprehensive platform that enables our customers’ digital transformation initiative», said Gerber Technology CEO, Mohit Uberoi. «Gerber Technology and Lectra share a long history of innovation and excellent customer service so, together, we will create an even stronger company able to globally provide the very best technological solutions.» And that’s not all. Thanks to Gerber Technology, Lectra will be able to extend its reach into new segments, such as construction, transport, aerospace, technical textiles, packaging, wind energy and the graphic industries.
