Massimo Poliero Outlines A.F.E.M.O.'s Road Map

Expand the market and be more competitive. This is the road map plotted by Massimo Poliero, A.F.E.M.O.'s new president

The first two actions that you have implemented as the new president?

My first priority was the renewal of the association, both in governance and in the operational structure. We have appointed a new group of directors, many of whom are young, to bring fresh ideas and new energy. In addition, we are starting an operational secretariat to improve the coordination of our activities. With the new Board of Directors, we will aim to strengthen the association's identity as a technological and innovative point of reference for the goldsmith and jewelry sector, with particular attention to the promotion of Made in Italy in international markets. This objective has already translated into concrete actions, for example with the updating of the association's statute, dated 1983, to make it more suitable for current challenges and opportunities.

Afemo's strengths in the world?

A.F.E.M.O. is a symbol of Italian excellence in technology for the goldsmith sector. What sets us apart is our world leadership in the production of advanced machinery, combined with a continuous capacity for innovation that makes Italy a global point of reference. Another key element is our network, which includes strategic partnerships with players such as IEG, strengthening our presence in important international events.

Strategies to face challenges and expand the market?

Among the strategies undertaken, the digitalization of the association is a priority: we are thinking of a new multilingual website and activating digital activities to improve international visibility. Furthermore, we aim to increase the number of members, with the goal of going from the current 50 to 60 members in the first year. We are strengthening our presence in international fairs and working on new strategic partnerships, including the fashion and accessories sector, to expand our market.

What are the technologies that are changing the goldsmith sector?

Among the most innovative and sustainable technologies, there are machines that exploit artificial intelligence and CNC machinery, to create lightweight and designer jewelry. Then there is 3D metal printing, which offers the possibility of creating prototypes and unique pieces quickly and efficiently.

Galvanics are evolving to improve both the aesthetics and resistance of the final products. Finally, CAD software represents an indispensable support for design.
