Art as Jewelry: precious creations by Picasso and Calder on sale online at Christie’s


Pablo Picasso, Man Ray, Enrico Castellani. It is perhaps not generally known that these artists, celebrated for their pictorial masterpieces, during their career managed to create also some incredibly stunning jewels. These works of art are now the subject of an extraordinary online auction held by Christie’s, open until May 18th (it started on May 6th) with the title Art as Jewelry. This is the first time the international auction giant offers art jewelry exclusively through its digital platform. The list of the best auctioned pieces includes: the Le Trou ring by Man Ray, characterized by the peculiar egg shape, made of gold and platinum, estimated between 10.000 and 15.000 dollars; the bronze Faun’s Head Picasso made around 1950, estimated between 30.000 and 50.000 dollars; and Alexander Calder’s brass brooch, created circa 1938 and estimated between 70.000 and 90.000 dollars.
