S/S Trends ‘21: Jewelry on Parade
A look at the jewelry we will be wearing in spring and summer 2021
What we saw at the most recent Spring/Summer 2021 fashion shows was jewelry that adapts to a large variety of social contexts. Eclectic creativity is the dominating factor that, without ever becoming tiresome, is able to modernize, what we usually call a “timeless classic”; like the pearl jewelry proposed in maximalist and romantic compositions by Simone Rocha, Erdem and Emilia Wickstead, or extra-long drop earrings (those by JW Andersen and Colville are particularly striking). And if anyone thinks that chains are reminiscent of the 1980s and ‘90s, Victoria Beckham proves their enormous contemporaneity by exaggerating both the designs and proportions. “Layering” still plays a star role and, if skillfully elaborated, can strongly determine the style of an outfit. Etro, Jason Wu, Versace and Clhoé are offering a mix and match version with a particularly relaxing and holiday mood. Dior uses it to further characterize the style of its woman: a noble and free traveler. Special mentions go to Fendi which, to complete its highly elegant looks, has turned to minimal, square-shaped, severe and extremely modern jewelry, and to Jacquemus, invincible in instilling a sense of aristocratic naturalness in the organic shapes of its jewelry.
