Can a bracelet become a quotation? It would seem so, if we entrust in the unadulterated creativity of contemporary designers like Olivier Rousteing. The current artistic director of Balmain was the “guest designer” for the latest Haute Couture Fall/Winter 2022-2023 collection by Jean Paul Gaultier, who, since officially retiring from the catwalks in January 2020, continues to invite other designers to reinterpret the company’s codes. Rousteing wanted to pay a sincere tribute to the great couturier who had always been his inspiration, turning even bijoux into a celebration of tailoring. And so, cuffs that look like the classic pincushions tailors and dressmakers of haute couture are so very fond of.
