The Soulful Dreams of The New Nomis Collection
Untitled by Nomis is a multitasking collection. Each piece of jewelry is multifunctional and transformable, telling an ever-changing story. Written by the brand using the gleam of gold, the light of precious stones, the charm of Tahitian black pearls
The irresistible seduction of black pearls, suspended between the moon and the sea, bearers of a symbolism that, since ancient times, has linked them to the myth of Aphrodite. The intuition of a design that manages to balance a contemporary, cutting, material, sculptural and three-dimensional aesthetic with a feat of engineering where joints based on the concept of transformability playfully integrate with those of inclusiveness and universality. This is the story of the new Nomis collection whose name, Untitled, says it all because each piece of jewelry is one thing and also something else. It can be worn in one way yet also interpreted in a personal way. It can take the side of either gender: spiked earrings, sharp as swords, that can become pendants; bracelets that can be worn as chokers; earcuffs that can be transformed into rings. But it is the central element of this collection, which could be defined as multi-tasking, that captures the eye, and not only for its considerable aesthetic value, but mainly due to its profound symbolic meaning: a long necklace in which the order of the pearls corresponds to the word “Freedom” in binary code, chosen for its globally-acknowledged communicative power. In this way, Alyona Kiperman, creative director of Nomis, aims to interpret the very concept of “freedom” as a state of the absence of imposed restrictions, as the ability to determine one's own priorities in life, as a manifesto against the suppression of one's own desires. What's more, at the customer’s request, any word can be encrypted with a binary code to become a love message, an individual thought, a timeless memory. Apart from the multifunctional aesthetics and symbolic values, the heart of this project consists of black Tahitian pearls and natural stones - diamond, sapphire, amethyst, topaz - that acquire an intriguing light thanks to the glow of gold. There is nothing artificial about it. The collection is avowedly a far cry from lab-grown stones and pearls, a game-changer that takes Nomis down a new path with the desire to add a sparkling energy and modern freshness to the traditional use of pearls in jewelry design by exploring the balance between dynamism and immobility, as well as a play on functional forms. Confirming itself as a brand that looks to the future, that experiments, innovates and turns the stimuli blowing in the wind into reality.
