Astana: a golden future
Discover one of the newest and fastest growing cities in the world
Kazakhstan is celebrating its 25th year of independence but it has a very long history. You may remember the legend and story of the Golden Man, whose burial was discovered in 1969, he had a costume made of 4,000 gold pieces and lived around 3,000 years ago. Next year, its capital, Astana, is going to host EXPO 2017 expecting three million people. That’s why, Astana, is the new destination to discover: a very green city, with lots of gardens, fountains, trees and sculptures but has also a futuristic place with very high skyscrapers, like the iconic Baiterek Tower – topped with a golden globe that symbolises the tree of life, the golden egg of a sacred bird repeatedly consumed by a dragon, the never-ending circle of life and death, good and evil, summer and winter.
