The brothers Grimm have taken us through mysterious forests, along tree-lined paths blanketed in diamonds and shown us cages full of gold and precious stones. Now those landscapes live on in an haute-joaillerie collection: Quatre contes de Grimm from Van Cleef & Arpels. Unique gems and hidden mechanisms evoke the Grimms’ Fairy Tales: Twelve Dancing Princesses, The Golden Bird, The Three Feathers, and The Town Musicians of Bremen, transformed into masterpieces, to relive the wonder of childhood.

Every stone is meant to be the bearer of a positive message. Burma blue sapphire represents the depth of the night sky in the moonlight, yellow diamonds bring to mind the sparkle of a golden apple while emeralds evoke the splendor of a lush garden.

Made up of a sautoir, a ring, and earrings, the Serapi parure — inspired by an episode in ‘The Three Feathers’ — brings to mind the Oriental style of Persian carpets, characterized by a uniform purple background and with a decorative two-tone medallion in the center.
