Hortus Deliciarum: High Jewelery by Gucci Makes an Encore

For the 100th anniversary of the Florentine maison, Alessandro Michele signs the second haute joaillerie collection, inspired by the grace of a Victorian-inspired Garden of Delights

The Pallavicino Park in Stresa is one of the most refined and evocative locations on Lake Maggiore, part of the properties of the Borromeo family since 2017. A unique setting in terms of charm and atmosphere that was the backdrop for the presentation of the second high jewelery collection signed by Alessandro Michele for Gucci, in the emblematic year celebrating the maison's 100th anniversary. The bucolic context was chosen for the evident connection with the theme of the collection, called Hortus Deliciarum, "Garden of Delights" consisting of 130 creations divided into four "chapters", most of which are unique pieces. To characterize them, cascades of diamonds inspired by paths of water, falling stars, leaves that vibrate at the slightest movement, playing with light and bringing out the most intense colors of precious stones. Stones selected for their beauty and uniqueness as well as for their being little used in the world of haute joaillerie. Here, for example, are purple and plum spinels, mint green tourmalines, topazes, spessartine garnets, Padparadscha sapphires and indicolites, as well as skittles and tanzanites with record caliber that become the protagonists of dream sets. Also unique are the 60-carat rubellite, the heart-shaped mandarin garnet or the 16-carat Paraiba tourmaline. Exceptional raw materials whose added value is also given by the RJC certifications, of which Gucci is a member, promoting responsible practices from an ethical, social and environmental point of view. Another characterizing element of the ensemble are the small lion heads that dot necklaces, cocktail rings and bracelets, but also women's watches, concealing dark blue Australian opal dials.
