Kinraden: Spokesperson for Integrity and Elegance

In recycled gold and silver, embellished with different kinds of diamonds, Kinraden creations invite us to reflect on the beauty of our world and the importance of preserving it for future generations

In the 2000s, while working as an architect, Danish-born Sarah Emilie Müllertz made a discovery that would seal the fate of her career: , from a black African tree known as “Mozambique ebony” or “Dalbergia Melanoxylon”.

Slow-growing in the forests of Tanzania, this material, known for its extreme hardness and durability, is traditionally used to make musical instruments such as clarinets and oboes. Its distinctive appearance, completely black and with no visible grain, captured Müllertz's imagination and she decided to use it for a project of her own, even though her team of architects had excluded it from theirs.

Thus, Kinraden was born, a completely sustainable fine jewelry brand, now in its tenth year. What makes it stand out are the special black “precious” gems, taken from the heartwood of Mpingo and then meticulously cut and polished by expert cutters, as if they were real diamonds.

Originating from an “above-ground mine” in a lush FSC-certified forest in Tanzania, they are not only beautiful but also environmentally responsible. All the wood used is recycled from the production of wind instrument and protected through WWF initiatives. This approach finds its substance in the strict concept of circular economy that the brand, which has always also been committed to ensuring a fair allocation of resources for all, has adopted.

The jewelry, inspired by different artistic forms ranging from Japanese design tradition to Danish architecture, reflects a harmony between form and function, driven by a passion for conscious living and respect for nature. Made exclusively from 18-carat gold and sterling silver recycled from decommissioned medical and technological equipment, items are forged by skilled craftsmen at a workshop in Thailand and certified by the Responsible Jewellery Council.

Furthermore, to celebrate its 10th anniversary, last April Kinraden opened its first stanalone store in Copenhagen. A space, designed in collaboration with Archival Studios, which, besides being a showcase for the collections, acts as a meeting point for art, culture and sustainability.
