The Making Art of Uncommon Matters

Jewelry for the home that are at the same time beautiful, modern, design and sculptural objects, accessible to all. It is the project by Amélie Riech, designer and signature of Uncommon Matters, in partnership with H&M Home

Interconnection and interdisciplinarity between different worlds are the core of designer Amélie Riech’s work, the name behind the Uncommon Matters brand. With her creativity, Amélie, whose strong family background has led her to divide her time between Paris and Berlin, has always managed to keep the dialogue between jewelry, her native "home", and art alive by giving full rein to an imagination hungry for full volumes, sinuous lines and sculptural pieces that are able to survive even in oversize formats. The project in which she has been involved in recent months - from 1st December 2022 - only confirms her attentive vision of making art. We are referring to the newly-formed partnership between the artist and the fast fashion giant H&M, for a new Uncommon Matters collection x H&M Home. Indeed, Amélie Riech has created authentic jewelry for the home that includes jewelry boxes, trays, stands, vases, candles and candle holders, all rigorously made with those unmistakable stylistic codes that are also much-loved by celebrities all over the world. A design conceived to evoke love, friendship and togetherness in all its forms, an extension of what the designer already applies in her way of conceiving jewelry. «Thinking about jewelry for the home is highly intriguing and engaging. When the Creative Director of H&M Home contacted me to propose this collaboration, I immediately fell in love with the idea of being able to make something accessible to everyone. The essence of Uncommon Matters is to transcend the boundaries of traditional art and our mission is to bring this art as close as possible to the public. What better way than to partner up with those who do this on a daily basis, like H&M? We worked on the project with their team for about a year. They had long wanted to explore a concept of jewelry for the home, as had I, and I knew that they had already collaborated with big fashion brands in the past, but I honestly never thought they would consider starting a partnership with an independent company like mine. Going into the specifics of the H&M Home collection, I tried to include the same concepts of functionality, accessibility and aesthetics that I use for my jewelry. I usually make small and large-scale works, such as wearable jewelry or real sculptures. The aim is always to have something beautiful to place in homes all over the world, which I have finally achieved with the Home collection.»
