Vicenzaoro Highlights, January 2025: Golden Ambitions
The first day of Vicenzaoro features the Golden Talk for students, Cibjo seminars, and the Jewellery Technology Forum. Focus on education and jewelry culture, live or streamed on The Jewellery Golden Cloud
Golden Ambition is the name chosen for the Vioff of this edition of Vicenzaoro, the Off Show that began on Friday morning at the Palladio Theater with the Golden Talk. This important career orientation event was organized in collaboration with Confindustria Vicenza Gold and Silversmith Section and Federorafi, aiming to inspire young people and help them discover the immense potential of an industry often recognized only for its final product but rich in intriguing and fascinating aspects.
A goldsmith’s profession draws inspiration from talent, develops through creativity, and is fueled by ambition over time. This ambition includes the desire to succeed, stand out, and leave a mark in an increasingly saturated and competitive market.
More than 600 students from primary and secondary schools in Vicenza and its province had the chance to engage in discussions at the IEG show with some of the industry's top experts and young professionals already working in jewelry companies. They shared their experiences, challenges overcome, and perspectives on a rewarding career.
Insights also emerged from a listening campaign by Skuola.net, which involved over 3,000 high school students to understand their perceptions of and opportunities in the jewelry sector. Among the findings was the clear need to strengthen the link between the educational and industrial worlds, a priority for fostering generational turnover in companies across Vicenza, Arezzo, Valenza, and Torre del Greco. The goal is to make this transition a natural and regular process, rather than a widespread challenge.
Claudia Piaserico, President of Federorafi, participated actively in the Golden Talk at the Palladio Theatre and emphasized the importance of this initiative, commenting:
"The world-wide institutional influencer marketing campaign organized with the Italian Trade Agency and titled ‘The Travel Documentary’ is part of this vision. It brought five major international creators to visit various companies in the Italian gold districts, documenting in the language of young people the ‘beautiful and well-done’ essence of made-in-Italy jewelry."
These ideas were reiterated at the end of the meeting by Matteo Farsura, Global Exhibition Manager Jewellery & Fashion at IEG, who praised the energy of the young audience. This vitality opened the trade show with great positivity and momentum.
Education remains a cornerstone of all IEG-organized events, supported by a rich program and high-profile themes. Recent collaborations with Cibjo have earned the ECOSOC quality mark from the United Nations Economic and Social Council. Topics addressed include record metal prices, colored stone traceability, and, in continuity with the Golden Talk, heritage and generational transition within companies.
On the high-tech front, the JTF Jewellery Technology Forum continues to highlight the sector’s mainstream advancements. For the past 20 years, it has complemented the offerings at T.Gold, the technology hub that brings together 170 companies from 16 countries in Hall 9. Attendees experience a full immersion in cutting-edge innovations serving the gold and jewelry world.
Organized by Legor Group, the JTF can be seen as a precursor to The Vicenza Symposium, set to launch in September. Conceived by Legor, in collaboration with Progold and IEG, this scientific event will take place in the Basilica Palladiana. It will address technologies, metals, and critical issues connecting jewelry and fashion while casting a forward-looking perspective on the challenges of tomorrow.
